General
Office Clerk Program, Computer Course
The
primary objective of this program is to teach
students the essentials of word processing in IBM
computer. Because the two most widely used word
processing software are Microsoft Word and Wordperfect, students will learn to operate these
two word processing softwares. Graduates of this
program will be well equipped to be employed as
entry level positions requiring word processing
knowledge, such as administrative assistants,
secretaries, receptionists, customer service
representatives, and general office workers.
Computer basic and advanced course is prepared for
student who want to get better jobs in the future.

TOEFL Preparation Class
Features
intensive vocabulary and grammatical study
designed to prepare the student for College or
University. The class uses up-to-date materials
and original practice tests to sharpen and improve
reading and listening comprehension skills.
Students study word roots, which enable them to
rapidly increse their vocabulary and learn
strategies to maximize their test taking
potential. |

Computerized
Accounting Clerk Program
The
primary objective of this program is to equip
students with the competent knowledge and skills
necessary for employment as an entry-level
computerized accounting specialist, such as
account payable clerk, account receivable clerk,
and bookkeeper. This program is designed for
students with very little or no background in
accounting. Students will learn accounting
principles and the use of popular software that
are widely used for accounting. |

Program Changes
A student must submit a written request to the
Director in order to change request is approved by
the Director and adjustment in tuition and fee are
made, the student may begin his or her new program
on the prescribed date. |
Repetition of Course
Students may repeat courses to raise grade point average
only if they received C- or below. Whenever a course is
repeated for credit, the highest grade earned will be
the official grade and the lower grade will be removed
from the student's records. There will be no additional
tuition charge for repeating the course.

English
as a Second Language (ESL) Program
West
Orange College's English as a Second Language (ESL)
programs are designed for students whose primary
language is not English. WOC's ESL programs are divided
into three levels: Beginning ESL, Intermediate ESL, and
Advanced ESL Programs. Depending on the results of the
students' initial English comprehension assessment test,
each student is placed in the appropriate program.

Evaluation
and Grading Policy
Students'
performance is evaluated on the basis of (a) subject
knowledge, (b) quality of work, (c) speed and accuracy,
(d) work habits, and (e) attendance.

Admission
Requirements
The
minimum requirement for admission to West Orange
College's educational program as a regular student are
as follow:

Possession
of a high school diploma or the equivalent (e.g.,
GED)
-
At
least 18 year of age
-
Pass
the institution-administrated entrance and aptitude
test, verifying that the student has the ability and
aptitude to complete the training.
Special
Student
West Orange College also admits a limited number of
students, who do not have a high school diploma or
unable to summit a document verifying high school
education (or its equivalent), provided that the
applicant is 18 years of age or older at the time of
admission and pass the nationally-recognized
"Ability to Benefit" test. Final determination
for admission will be based on the test results, prior
education, work experience, motivation, and placement
potential. Each applicant will be assessed on an
individual basis for final determination. A copy of the
test scores for "Ability to Benefit" test will
be retained in the student's file.
Students, accepted under the Ability to Benefit"
category, are admitted on a provisional basis. They will
be removed from the provisional status after completion
of three courses with a passing grade of "C"
(or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or higher. Those who fail to
meet the minimum grade point average will be placed on
academic probation.
